Dawn Hines founded the Aurora Ventura venture consulting practice in May 2000. From 2000 - 2006, she was involved in various roles in technology and industrial companies, including:
• fund-raising and international expansion for 10 companies in the USA, Europe and Africa,
• turn-around of a U.S. manufacturing company,
• acquisition and change management of a European IT services firm.
In February 2007 Dawn launched the Aventura Partners seed investment fund, together with a group of like-minded private investors in the U.S., Europe and Africa. Via Aurora Ventura BV, she provides investment management services for Aventura Partners investments.
Prior to founding Aurora Ventura and Aventura Partners, Dawn worked for 7 years in the venture capital industry. She was an Investment Manager with Vanenburg Ventures and Fortis Group in the Netherlands.
Dawn began her career in the Investment Banking group of PaineWebber (now UBS) in New York. Following MBA studies, she joined Reuters European headquarters in Geneva, as manager of business development for mobile applications. There she launched the first financial information text messaging service in Europe.
She completed an MBA at the Wharton School, including a semester at IESE Business School in Spain, and holds a BA in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania. Languages spoken include: English, French, Spanish, Dutch and German.
Dawn sits on the boards of Hines Industries, a family-owned company in the U.S., OOIP BV, a Dutch technology firm, Agrina Senegal, an agricultural production and management company, and Clinique Borom Daara-J, a maternity clinic in Senegal.
She currently divides her time between Amsterdam, Dakar and various KLM/Air France flight lounges.
